Our home beach
The main beach in Plakias stretches wide along the bay.
There are sections with umbrellas and sunbeds, and other parts where you can simply put down a towel and enjoy the space. Some days feel lively, others calm, depending on the wind, the sun, and the season.
What we love about Plakias is the freedom of choice.
Beach Life, Your Way
You can settle into one of the relaxed beach bars and spend hours there — swimming, ordering a refreshing drink, and go swimming again. Or you can walk a little further and find quieter places where it’s just you, the sea and the sound of the waves.
Along the coast, you’ll also find plenty of places to eat or grab a quick bite when hunger strikes. From simple lunches to fresh fish or an easy afternoon snack — everything is within walking distance, without needing to plan much.
When the Wind Picks Up
Wind is part of life here and also part of what makes the area so flexible.
When it’s windier, Souda Beach is often the first alternative. It’s more sheltered and usually calmer, with a few laid-back beach bars where you can easily spend the day.
Less than 5 minutes from Plakias we have Damnoni Beach. Long, spacious, and lively in summer, but still easy to find your own spot to put your towel. Just around the corner, Ammoudaki and Mikro Ammoudaki are smaller and more intimate. Great if you’re looking for something quieter, or a short swim without too much exposure.
And if you don’t mind driving a little more, Skinaria Beach is always worth it: clear water, a more remote feel, and beautiful snorkelling on calmer days.
